Offline Vibration analysis
Our client is one of the leading companies in Europe in the manufacture of recycled paper for corrugated cardboard, with an annual production of more than 3 million tons of recycled paper.
Project description and objectives
The scope of the Project includes offline vibration inspections every four months for critical machinery
- Early detection of machine stops that allows avoiding unscheduled stops within a critical production line for corrugated and compact cardboard packaging
Proposed solution
Very critical machine in the production process, made up of a three-phase alternating current motor that, through a group of belts and pulleys, drives an aspiration fan. Said unit is located in a periodic route for data collection and spectrum analysis for the detection of possible mechanical and electrical anomalies.
During the last inspection on 05/25/2020, vibration continues to be detected at high values, associated with clearances in the fan bearings. Since the vibration values are outside historical limits, it is recommended to intervene.

Evolution of the spectrum before the failure detection

Evolution of the spectrum after the failure detection

Cost saving
Due to the precise and early identification of the defect. Correct production planning is achieved, avoiding costs derived from unforeseen stops, costs derived from greater deterioration and a minimum intervention time once the fault has been located. 3 hours of downtime with estimating savings of thousand of euros in production
